Remedial Massage

If you have particular muscle tension or chronic pain a remedial massage may be for you. Your remedial massage therapist will assess where you need treatment and what may be causing your pain. They’ll perform some tests to see exactly which muscles are giving you trouble and will tailor a treatment plan to suit. The treatment itself may involve deep tissue work for short periods of time, but the results are definitely worth it! Conditions such as sciatica, carpal tunnel, stiff necks, headaches, sports injuries and many more complaints can be eased with a remedial treatment.

Sports Massage

Sports massage is specifically tailored to different sports and sporting injuries. It is not a relaxing form of massage and can often be quite strenuous. It works by stretching tight muscles, stimulating inactive muscles and improving the condition of the soft tissue. The aim of sports massage is to reduce the stress and tension that can build up in the soft tissues of the body during exercise. This form of massage is used to: increase endurance, improve performance, reduce the chance of injury, reduce recovery time after a sports event or injury.

Side-Lying or Pregnancy Massage

For those who are unable to lie on their stomach or their back, Remedial Massage Therapists are able to treat a majority of your troubled areas in this position. Side lying Massage therapy for pregnancy helps to reduce anxiety, improve mood, promote sleep, decrease back pain, decrease leg pain, and reduce depression in pregnant women. Most of the treatment is done while the client is lying on their left side, as it helps blood travel from the heart to the placenta and prevents the enlarged and heavy uterus from putting pressure on the liver.

Cupping + Massage

This service is unique to Mind to Muscle Remedial Massage. It involves an area of the body to be cupped, while your therapist treats another area while they wait for the cups to work. Talk about achieving two in one results! Your nervous, lymphatic and circulatory system all lie underneath the surface of your skin. Cupping helps to stretch fascia which can tighten up and compress these systems. Taking pressure off the nervous system reduces pain, taking pressure off your circulatory system increase blood flow and recovery, taking pressure off your lymphatic system helps to flush out any inflammation.

Dry Needling

Dry needling is a technique used to treat pain and movement issues associated with myofascial trigger points. Myofascial trigger points are specific points in muscles that cause pain or dysfunction. A trained professional inserts thin needles into or near these points to stimulate the muscles and reduce pain. Dry needling does not involve any fluids or injections.

Relaxation Massage

A relaxation massage helps to de-stress and loosen up your body and is great for those who have had a hard working week or feel like treating themselves to some TLC! If you are someone who suffers stress, anxiety and inflammation, this type of massage helps to switch off your 'fight and flight' side of your nervous system to help flush out waste products of the body, inflammation to improve energy, recovery and metabolism. The treatment consists of flowing strokes, kneading and gentle manipulations of the muscles performed at your chosen pressure. It is a pain-free way to relax both your muscles and your mind.
